Origin offers a wide range of data analysis tools: curve and area fitting, peak analysis, interpolation, signal processing, derivatives, Statistics: descriptive, ANOVA, parametric and non-parametric tests, multivariate analysis, power and sample size calculations, survival analysis and ROC curves. Each analysis is accompanied by a report that summarizes parameters and organizes your results. In addition, you have access to the entire NAG Mark 25 library (latest version) via Origin C functions (integrated programming language).

Opt for a wide selection of publication-quality graphics

With more than 100 types of graphics built in, Origin makes it easy to create and customize your visualizations and give you optimal publication-quality results. Powerful tools allow you to easily manipulate and customize your charts. Many types are available, allowing you to meet the needs of different business sectors, such as histograms, pie charts, waterfalls, radars, parametric graphs, polar coordinate graphs, area curves, profile curves, iso line maps, thermal maps, field graphs, Pareto graphs, with multiple vertical axes or multiple sections, in 2D or 3D, or statistical graphs.

Automate repetitive tasks via scripts

With or without programming, Origin allows you to create import filters, import multiple files simultaneously, and add scripts after import that can be saved and reused. The same is true for analysis, data processing and graphics, whose styles and properties can be saved and reused at will.

To take it a step further, Origin includes two built-in programming languages : Origin C, a C-compatible language, and the interpreted LabTalk™ programming language. It also has a real development environment, the Code Builder, to code and debug its scripts.

Having a large library of scalable applications

Origin offers an application exchange platform, powered by users and the OriginLab team itself, to make available to as many people as possible tools developed around Origin : treemap, Monte Carlo simulation, LaTeX editing interface, principal component analysis (PCA), etc.

These applications are accessible from your Origin software directly. You can install, test, track some applications that will simplify your work. In addition, OriginLab closely follows the users : specific applications are developed as the year goes by to meet your punctual needs.

Compatible with your other tools

Connect your other tools to Origin: Matlab™, LabView™ or Microsoft© Excel, query Origin from these tools to get the most out of each. You can also create your own processing routines in Origin C or LabTalk, integrating your Python or R codes.

Work on large datasets

Origin allows you to connect to your databases via ODBC, ADO connectors or import very large test datasets.

Once imported, this data will be able to be visualized, explored, analyzed, in a simplified way, with dynamic tools

Origin 2021b new features

New color manager

Manage color lists and palettes with the new Color Manager tool. The main features supported by this tool are: 

• Select the desired lists and color palettes to access from the mini-toolbars and other places in the user interface 
• Create your own lists or color palettes, including by selecting and interpolating colors 
• Import lists or color palettes from external files 

New formula bar

A new formula bar has been added for worksheets. It offers the following benefits: 

• Enter the cell formula when a cell is selected 
• Enter the column formula when a column or row of the F(x) label is selected 
• Easily edit complex formulas, with the ability to adjust the font size of the formula bar  for easier reading 
• Select and fill interactively cell ranges while modifying the formula, for example the input range of a function 
• Use search and insert functions

The Origin embedded Python environment has been greatly improved in version 2021 : 

• Supports version 3.8. 3
• New package originpro with easy, high-level access to Origin objects and data from Python 
• Use Python functions in Set Column Values
